From the results of the assessment conducted by Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) Research and Development Directorate, a number of issues were discovered about the implementation of Law no. 4 of 2009 on Mineral and Coal Mining. There are at least ten major issues impeding the government from carrying out their duties in mineral and coal resources management.
Critical issues can be grouped into three major areas: overlapping authority, lack of oversight, and weak laws and regulations.
